I am posting a message for friends, family, acquaintances, clients and followers to share some big events that have happened lately. Things have been incredible — the past few months have given us a lot of ups and downs, but we are in a very good place right now. 2019 has been a year to remember and here are some of the major events to happen to our family and crew of rescues.
The biggest news to share is that I am happy to announce we are now parents. On September 27, Malia gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter, Avea. I have already nicknamed her, Sassy because she has a mind of her own. She decided to come 6 weeks early which required a Medical-Evacuation to Oahu. Momma, Sassy and I just came home after almost 4 weeks in the NICU. Both of the ladies in my life are doing great and it’s so nice to all be home – even if sleep is at a premium.
The second bit of news is that we are moving. As many of you know, we built our dream home but like many other things in life – our needs have changed. We have become very active in animal rescue and fostering, and are motivated to do a lot more. So after living in our home for 2.5yrs, we have decided to sell. Our goal is to buy a large plot of land and begin putting together our animal sanctuary. Last year Malia and I started a non-profit, Chip’s Foster and Care and we are really looking to grow our efforts. If you would like to learn more about we are doing you can visit: ChipsFC.org.
The last item to share is that I have ramped up my Real Estate career. As many of you know, I have been a licensed Real Estate Agent since 2012, but recently, I have formed a team: The Big Island Team. It’s a big step and we are really excited to grow our brand. If you would like to learn more about our new Real Estate team, visit: BigIslandTeam.com.
Our hodge-podge crew of rescues and castoffs have had a great 2019, but 2020 will be a huge year to do even greater things! We look forward to our paths crossing and until they do, enjoy your best life and make the most of every moment.

Data doesn’t lie. As a realtor I am asked on a daily basis, “How is the market doing?” Well, at my disposal is a service that organizes all sales (land, condo & residential) into a very clear and easy to ready diagram. Below you will find the most recent data for the 96740 market.
For the most recent month (Sept ’19), you will find a couple very interesting things:
- Inventory is down 5% from from August
- Inventory is down 24.6% from September 2018
- Sold is up 20% from 2018
- Pending sales are up almost 100% from 2018
So to answer the question, “How is the market doing?” Great. Inventory levels are very low, but sales are still up. This is a GREAT time to list your home. With less competition in the market place, your property will stand out. Low Supply, High Demand = Sell your house fast and more than you may think.
